"To be a Christian, to have received Holy Baptism, must not be looked upon as something of negligible importance.  It must be something which thrills the baptized person to the very core of his being. "

Pope Paul VI, Ecclesium Suam 39

The Sacrament of Baptism

I need to have my baby baptized; what should I do?

Congratulations on the new little life that has joined your family!

For the first child in a family, Incarnate Word requires a baptism preparation class. These classes are offered on the first Wednesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. At this meeting or by calling the parish office (314-576-5366 ext. 10), you may schedule the baptism and receive more information.

Hopefully, you are excited about the opportunity to share your faith with your child. Below is a small packet which may give you and your child's godparents some concrete ideas for how to do that as they grow older.

I want to be baptized myself or am looking for information on behalf of an older child or adult; what is my next step?

Baptism usually takes place as part of the process of RCIA, or Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults. See here for more information, or check in with the Director of Religious Education, Laura Flanagan (314-576-5366 ext. 26, This email address is being protected from spambots.
