School Closings for Inclement Weather If the weather is such that school is forced to close, the principal and/or pastor will notify TV stations (Channels 2, 4, and 5) and KMOX radio to make the announcement. The school will be announced as Incarnate Word Elementary School. You may also check via the Internet for school closings at: We have also initiated a telephone broadcast system that enables school personnel to notify all households and parents by phone within minutes of an emergency. (See Parent-Student Handbook 2006-2007 Appendix on page 45 for more details about our "Telephone Broadcast Services")
If the weather is such that a delayed opening would be beneficial to everyone’s safety, the principal and/or pastor will notify radio (KMOX) and television stations (Channels 2, 4, and 5) to make the announcement of a delayed opening. Usually a delayed opening means a 9:30 a.m. start to the school day. If seriously inclement weather occurs during the school day, the school day will generally continue as usual, but parents may use their judgment in picking up their children earlier than the 3:10 p.m. dismissal. Should the school need to close after the children are in class, such an announcement will again be conveyed through the above-listed radio and TV stations. We strongly urge parents NOT TO CALL THE SCHOOL OFFICE OR RECTORY regarding school closings. Please stay tuned to the radio and TV announcements or refer to our website for accurate and timely information about school closings. This will keep the school phone available for emergency calls.
