Dear Parents:

·         School’s Out Tomorrow at 10:00am.  We get to have one more all-school Mass to end what has been a wonderful year of growth for everyone in our Incarnate Word Parish School community.  God has blessed our school and our children in so many ways this year.  We will thank the Lord at Mass.

·         Golf Tournament to benefit Incarnate Word: Please be sure to support next week’s golf tournament (June 6).  This annual event has been a great benefit to our school, and we are looking forward to the happy results from this year’s efforts.  Thanks to the many people who are working so hard to make the event both fun and successful.

·         Lost and Found Items: Last chance!  Come on up and pick up your unmarked miscellaneous items before the school year is over.  Check the center stairwell in the school building, the lower church hall, the Kent Center lobby, and the church vestibule for lost items.  In the center stairwell we have numerous unmarked, unclaimed items: 25 sweatshirts, 15 shirts, 9 pair of shorts, 14 gloves, 3 hats, and 4 lunch boxes, and much, much more.

·         New Teachers for 2008-2009: We have been very fortunate this spring to have found outstanding people to replace our departing staff members.  Two weeks ago I reported that we had signed on a new 3rd grade teacher, a new Learning Consultant, and a new Music teacher.  This week I am happy to report that, after reviewing several resumes and conducting a number of interviews we have lined up a Spanish teacher and an upper grade science teacher, to replace Mr. Jenkins and Mrs. Anibal respectively.  Incidentally, Father Vowels, our pastor, has responsibility for hiring our parish director of religious education and is well into that process.  Mrs. Jenny Hardy will be our K-8 Spanish teacher.  Mrs. Hardy attended the Central University of Ecuador and has the equivalent of the Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and the Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology.  She has taught Spanish for Berlitz Languages, Inc., St. Louis Community College, and has given private Spanish instruction.  Over the years she has taught students from pre-kindergarten through sixth grade.  Dr. Brian King will be our science teacher in grades 6, 7, and 8.  Having graduated from Logan University, College of Chiropractic, in 1999 and possessing a professional doctorate degree in health and life sciences, Dr. King has initiated a career change and is in the process of obtaining his provisional Missouri teacher certification.  We are very excited to welcome these two very capable people to join our staff at the beginning of the 2008-2009 school year.

·         Final Letter from the Principal will be included with report cards and mailed to your homes on Friday, June 6th.  Look for important information and forms in the same envelope with report cards.  It will include:

School Calendar will be complete, though subject to some change

Emergency forms will be due in the school office by June 30th

Health forms will be due to the school office by August 1st.

Supply lists and fees will be outlined for you

Noon Recess Duty/Buyout Option form.  We want as many parents as possible helping out everyday, but if you cannot make it, this form spells out your     options.  Form is due June 30th.

School Uniform Reminders: Though the school uniform and dress code requirements are simple and spelled out clearly, students and parents both sometimes              need reminders.  Be sure you and you children read and understand these requirements before the first day of school in August.

·         Car Pool and Parking Space sign ups were sent home a couple of weeks ago and should be returned to school as soon as possible.
