PSR Requirements For the Sacrament of Confirmation

 

  1. A sincere desire to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation.

 

  1. A spirit of cooperation and a prayerful attitude toward receiving and living out one’s Confirmation.

 

  1. Attend all classes from 6:30-7:45PM on Monday evenings.  In case of illness, parents/students must call the office at 314-576-5366 ext. 27 before class begins and contact the teacher to make up the lesson missed.

 

4.       All candidates must supply a copy of their Baptismal Certificate to the Religious Education Office before November 1, 2004.  Be sure to include an accurate and complete mailing address of the church of Baptism. (A Confirmation form is sent and recorded by the child’s church of Baptism.)  Also, all candidates must fill out and return the Confirmation Form to the Religious Education Office no later than November 1st, 2004.

 

  1. SERVICE FOR OTHERS PROJECT to show the SERVICE aspect of this sacrament.  If Jesus is the “Person for Others,” then so are His followers.  This project helps the candidates to become actively involved in the mission of the Church, which is to minister to the needs of others.  Students are required to complete fifteen hours of service for others as designated on the list enclosed.  Students are encouraged to serve additional hours of service of their choice as well, focusing on Christian Action as a way of life.

 

  1. A written and oral report of the saint’s name they have chosen as their confirmation name.  In this report, the candidates are to research the saint and how he/she made a difference in the lives of others.  These reports will be turned into their teachers. The oral reports will be shared with all PSR classes during class time on Nov. 8th in honor of All Saints Day. Students are asked to dress as their saint as well.

 

  1. Candidates will be offered the opportunity to attend an overnight retreat at Incarnate Word in preparation for Confirmation.  This will be held on January 7-8.

(A Confirmation form is sent and recorded by the child’s church of Baptism.)  Those who were baptized at Incarnate Word do not have to give us a copy of their Baptismal certificate.  Also, all candidates must fill out and return the Confirmation Form to the Religious Education Office no later than November 1st, 2004.
