Q: How does the Christmas Giving Tree work?
- Volunteers for the Giving Tree decorate ornaments (usually picked up during the Festival of Ministries), and return them in a timely manner for placement on the Giving Tree.
Q: How much time is involved? - This is a very short ministry, lasting about 3 weeks each year. All ornaments must be on the tree the weekend before Thanksgiving.
Q: How does the child get the gift? - The parishioners from Incarnate Word choose an ornament from the tree and purchase the gift or item requested. That gift is returned under the tree. When all the gifts have been returned, they are sorted by school or organization. Arrangements are made by the school or organization to pick up the gifts. For the school children, these gifts are given to them at their school Christmas party.
Q: How do parishioners volunteer?
- As Christmastime approaches, there are notices in the bulletin about the event and the Giving Tree is placed in the vestibule in church.
Q: Does Incarnate Word help the same schools every year? - The recipients of the Giving Tree are chosen each year by the Director of Stewardship and the Pastor of Incarnate Word.
