Does the Library charge fines on overdue books? No. If a student does not return their book, they can check out again only after their book(s) have been returned. We have found that this is the most effective way, given our resources, to get the books back into the Library for circulation. How many books can students check out? Kdg thru 3rd grade check two out at a time. 4th thru 8th grade can routinely check out two books at a time. If they are working on special projects or reports and have no overdue books, they can check out more by making arrangements with the Librarian How often do students come to the Library? All classes have at least one scheduled trip to the Library each week. In addition to their weekly trip, students may come to the Library any time with their teacher's permission. How long can students keep the books they check out? Kdg - 3rd grade check their books out for one week at a time. 4th - 8th grade students check their books out for two weeks at a time. Any student may renew their book when it is due but the student must have the book with them. What happens if a student loses the book they checked out? If the book lost is a paperback, it can be replaced with an exact copy plus $2.50 to cover the cost of processing OR the student can pay the cost of the paperback plus the $2.50 processing fee. If the lost book is a hardback, the replacement fee is $20.00. The Library purchases permabound and library bound editions which are not available to the general public at bookstores and therefore if a hardback book is lost, it must be paid for. Because of the time involved in getting a book ready for circulation, we would much prefer to have the original book back so we are generous in the amount of time we give the student to thoroughly search for the book before we ask for payment. Can parents, grandparents or other parishioners help in the Library? Yes!!!!! We have 35 wonderful volunteers each year who help with the library. There are a variety of jobs and schedules to choose from. There are even projects that can be taken home to work on. There's something for everyone's schedule and situation and we LOVE our Library volunteers. If you are interested please email thru this website or call Blenda Dunavant, 314-576-5366 x 25.
