The Gardening Angels are a group of parishioners of all ages who help maintain or improve the landscape of the church grounds. Volunteering can involve one-time projects or ongoing projects. Volunteers choose the projects that suit their interests and time availability. Other than scheduled grounds clean-up days in the spring and fall, the volunteers work on their projects on their own time. Volunteering could be done by scouts or students for service hours or Eagle Scout or God awards project.
What are some of the projects of the Gardening Angels? Adopt and area…we have mapped out over thirty areas on the church grounds that need varying degrees of maintenance. Some areas just need weeding, some just bush trimming, and some need plantings. Watering…the islands on the church grounds do not have an irrigation system. We accept volunteers on a weekly or monthly basis to water these areas. Donating plant material either purchased or from your gardens at home Miscellaneous services…we have individuals who apply fertilizer and weed control to the lawn; trim bushes; spray round-up for weed control; and edge sidewalks Spring and fall church grounds clean-up days…parishioners of all ages can participate as we weed, mulch or compost, trim plantings, plant seasonal flowers and sweep and clean the parking areas. Service projects…we have many projects from simple to complex for groups, individual students or scouts needing service hours
