What should I expect if I participate in the RCIA?All of the basic preparation for joining the Church is done through the local parish. The process is called the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA). The process begins with a period of inquiry followed by a period of faith formation. The inquiry phase provides the opportunity to ask questions and get some basic information and is available year-round. If someone decides to continue in the process, he or she enters the faith formation phase. For someone who is not Christian, he or she is considered a Catechumen. A Christian wanting to join the Catholic Church is considered a candidate for full communion with the Roman Catholic Church. Those who are already baptized, as well as adult Catholics seeking the Sacrament of Confirmation, may also participate in this initiation and formation journey. Who is the process for?- The primary focus of the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is on those who are not already Christian and have not been catechized or baptized. - Baptized but uncatechized. Those who have been baptized either as Roman Catholics or as members of another Christian community but did not receive further catechetical formation or instruction. These typically have also not celebrated the Sacraments of Confirmation nor Eucharist. - Those seeking full Catholic Communion. These are baptized, practicing Christians from other denominations who seek entry into the Catholic Church. - Children / Adolescents who have reached the age of reason, who have not received catechesis nor the Sacraments of Christian initiation. If you'd like to know more about RCIA, please consider joining us in the journey on Sunday mornings from 8:45 - 10 AM or e-mail
